Baylor fans are turning out early to celebrate the school’s first game in a few hours when the Bears meet up with old Southwest Conference rival SMU in a few hours in the first college game at McLane Stadium.

The “Baylor Navy” is out in all of its glory as a large flotilla of boats already have set up shop.I was told by my friends in the Baylor Athletic Department to come early because of anticipated problems getting into the stadium. The traffic wasn’t bad leaving Dallas and the trip was the typical 2-hour jaunt it usually is.Business was booming at almost every Waco restaurant I drove past on the way in. Don’t even think about trying to get into the Cracker Barrel.
It’s a glorious day for the school, the city of Waco and for Central Texas in general.Now, all the Bears need to do will be to keep challenging for Big 12 titles to keep fans flocking back to the facility.Just a guess here, but as long as Art Briles is in charge, that probably will be the case.
